The Company, headquartered in Finland,
provides convenient, cost-effective,
plug-in-free, Java-based streaming video
technologies for fixed Internet and
wireless devices. The Company also develops
products that enable faster streaming
video delivery, easier viewing and broader
audience reach than standard plug-ins
or media players. Based on an internationally
patented motion vector quantization
(MVQ) Java-based technology, The Company's
solutions compress distributed video
content into an extremely light packet
for both fixed Internet and wireless
devices.
Key Problems
The Company needed to test their new,
MVQ technology-based, products. Excellent
testing equipment and top-level quality
control professionals were required
for testing the products.
Arcadia, Inc. is well known in Finland
for top quality of its services. Arcadia's
services include complete analysis,
validation, and verification of software
products.
The Company's representatives visited
Arcadia testing laboratory, met with
the testing team, and learned about
the testing methodologies employed at
Arcadia. They were impressed with the
testing capabilities they found at Arcadia
and decided to outsource the new products
testing to Arcadia, Inc.
Arcadia, Inc.
Solution
Arcadia's testing team started to work
with the Company's development team
when the development of the products
was still in progress.
Arcadia's role was to provide integration
testing and system testing (including
performance and fault tolerance testing).
First of all, it was necessary to prepare
all relevant documentation. Arcadia's
team, in cooperation with the Company's
team, wrote the test specification and
test cases, generated the test streams
for the products, and started the testing.
Arcadia's team reported on the testing
progress by filling the test logs, e-mailing
weekly status reports, and recording
the detected bugs in the DevTrack system
installed at the Company's site. In
the progress of the testing, Arcadia's
quality control professionals created
new test cases and updated the test
specifications.
In addition to the product testing,
Arcadia provided Java applet testing.
Java applet testing was a difficult
and demanding task, which required testing
under many different Web browsers and
operating systems. The testing was performed
under the following operating systems:
Win 2000, Win XP, Win NT 4.0, Win 95
OSR2, Win 98, Win 98 SE, Win ME, Mac
OS 9, Mac OS X, and with the following
browsers: Internet Explorer 4.0 / 5.0
/ 5.1(for MacOS) / 5.5 / 6.0 and Netscape
Communicator 4.5 / 4.6 / 4.7 / 4.79
/ 6.2.
Arcadia also performed the acceptance
testing at the end of the project. The
Company was extremely pleased with the
creativity of Arcadia's testing team
and with the quality of the provided
services.
Arcadia became a technological partner
of the Company and provides testing
for the new products developed by the
Company.
Project statistics:
569 product test cases were used for
over 1700 tests.
371 applet test cases were used for
over 8700 tests.
